I felt deeply sorry for the Blackcaps. In spite of all the heroics that they put up during the unusual 102 over ICC Cricket World Cup Final, they could only reach the line (and not cross it).
Definitely I rate this as the most thrilling game of cricket that I have watched. But to watch so much of luck running against one team was a little heartbreaking. How many times out of 100 would you think that a throw from the deep would deflect of the batsman’s bat and go for a boundary? And add to the insult the alleged umpiring error that cost New Zealand the World Cup.
Kane deserved the win. England had luck on their side.
Whatever the result was in the end, the game will go down best final that has ever happened.
7 weeks, 42 matches including a 102 over final and still we needed a ridiculous sounding rule to decide a winner. That’s the beauty of the game. Or is it?
